How to create iTunes ipa from a cydia
deb-file


This guide will show you how to create an iTunes ipa from a Cydia deb file using iTunes.


Find the deb-file that you want to convert

For this guide I will use iClassice app as I have already converted it to ipa format


Open the deb-file and browse to date,applications,iClassic.app

extract the folder to your desk top


Open iTunes and open the applications window



Now all you need to do to convert the file to ipa is drag and drop the application folder into iTunes application window and drop it.


If you look at the applications window now the ipa is there but if icon image is missing


Right click on the application, show in windows explorer and save to you desktop.

Delete the ipa from itunes


Open the iClassic.app again and extract the icon.png


You will notice the the icon is just a black square with no image what you need to do is fix this with png fix



Open the ipa you coped to your desktop win winRAR you will notice that the file structure has now benn modified, place the icon.png in the folder and rename to iTunesArtwork




Double click on the ipa to sync back to iTunes now you will notice that the ipa icon is not fixed


Now install on your device


Note if the cydia application is already installed on your device just open navigate to the applications folder and do the same as above as there is no need to open the ipa

I did exactly that, but tell me before I sync to the device, I did not well understand how you fix the icone problem. As written in your message after placing the icon.png in the .ipa opened with Winrar and renaming it to iTunesArtwork, the icon is NOT FIXED, you wanted to say is NOW FIXED or NOT FIXED ? For me I did that and the icon is still NOT FIXED.

Well before you rename the icon to iTunesArtworkyou have to fix it first, because when you extract the icon its just a black square with no image.

I have attached a file to the first post, extract the contents

1.Place the icon.png in the png folder

2. Run iPhoneFixPng.exe

Cool mate, I will do it again.
tell me : the purpose of that is to avoid losing the cydia packages after each restore or update and no more need of aptbackup or pkgbackup ?

The other question : If the package (.deb) is already on the phone, should I uninstall first or not ?

Well you cannot convert all apps you need to check if it uses MobileSubstrate if so then you cannot convert it.

What is MobileSubstrate ?
btw I want download the .deb files and install it with iFanbox , then iFile .. but iFile is in .deb file and I cant convert it ..
Anyone upload the iFile.ipa please

EDIT : Now i Try to convert iClassic and it works .. iFile cant be converted ?

MobileSubstrate is a few system shared dynamic libraries (.dylib files, similar to Windows .DLLs) that allows developers to write programs that extend programs they didn't write.

Because this may happen, MobileSubstrate ALSO provides a "safe mode" for SpringBoard that will DISABLE ANY 3RD PARTY MS EXTENSIONS.
This is similar to Windows' safe mode, where it disables all drivers upon system startup. MobileSubstrate AUTOMATICALLY activates its safe mode when it detects that SpringBoard has crashed (due to one of the installed MS extensions). When MS's safe mode is active, you can remove any bad extension that is crashing SpringBoard. After rebooting your phone, safe mode will not be active and all MS extensions will work normally.

MobileSubstrate, written by Saurik, is a required component (aka Dependency) of many jailbroken programs, such as Winterboard, QuickGold, SBSettings, Five Icon Dock, Clippy, Backgrounder, etc.
